Join us for Lewes OctoberFEAST! in the Harveys Brewery backyard on Saturday, 28 September from 12-4pm. It’s a vibrant celebration of the best in street food. There will also be live music with Starfish and Ouse Samba. And then there’s the Harveys Hop Bar, featuring some of the best ales in the world. How can you say no to that combination? Well, you just can’t.
Speaking of combos . . .
It is our humble opinion (and experience), that anything Little Hapas goes perfectly with anything Harveys, so whatever you have on the day will wash down nicely with something from the Harveys Hop Bar. In fact, we like the combo so much, Little Hapas’ menu will include our original, delicious korritos featuring hapasauce made with Harveys Blue Label Best Sussex Pale Ale; pizzadillas, hapaslaw and a special “Rarebit O’ Crumpet” made with Harveys Blue Label and hapasauce. Come and taste for yourself.
Lewes also has some fantastic independent shops, a castle, beautiful gardens and more history than you can shake a stick at. Hop the train, have a bite, a wander, a couple pints and make an afternoon of it!
Little Hapas Rarebit O’ Crumpet
featuring Harveys Blue Label (Best Sussex Pale Ale)
25g flour
25g butter
black pepper
Make a roux and cook on low heat for a few minutes.
Mix together, then whisk into roux:
125ml of Harveys Blue Label (Best Sussex Pale Ale)
1 tsp dried wasabi (or fresh)
1 T hapasauce
1 tsp Sriracha chili paste
1 tsp rice wine vinegar
Slowly stir in to melt:
125g grated aged cheddar
1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Take off heat and be as greedy as you like with the portions! Grill on toast for a more traditional rarebit, or for Little Hapas “Rarebit O’ Crumpet,” grill crumpets on both sides, then add 1 tsp of hapasauce to the top of each crumpet, as much rarebit as you like, top with toasted sesame seeds and grill.
